BAR NO!

BAR NO! tells the story of a princess imprisoned by her own royal family: she meets the person she loves, only to discover the romance is a pawn in the crown's strategic design. At its core the work expresses a resolve to die for love even when separated from the beloved by death itself. Set at the end of the Bal kingdom's rule in a fantasy world, the scene staged follows the new king Norman as he storms the young prince's territory, kills him in a royal duel, and then faces his own sister's open defiance — she prays to share his fate and dies with him.

"The scenic design builds on the ruins of a war-torn palace, adding chains as a symbol of confinement and enlarging some of them into column-like structures. The proscenium stage is divided into three sections across three levels, forming a large staircase enclosing a smaller one; the front thirteen-step stair is motorised and can align with the second level, opening a wide space for the duel scene."
