Yongle Ruzhen

Yongle Ruzhen is an interactive digital art work that uses generative AI (AIGC) to render figures from the mural "Audience of the Primordial" in the Sanqing Hall of the Yongle Palace, Shanxi Province. Taking mural figures such as the Supreme Lord Taiyi, the Jade-Bearing Maiden, the Immortal Attendants and the Star of Emolument as its subjects, the work generates corresponding realistic portraits and animations. The cloud vapour within the imagery responds to the viewer's body, letting realistic figures and mural figures transform into one another amid drifting mist.

"Through art and technology, the work turns the Yongle Palace murals into an interface between reality and imagination. As the viewer's body interacts with the drifting cloud, a dialogue opens between historical imagery and contemporary art."
